Puddle Flanges & Leak Control Flanges

Sealed waste outlets that stop leaks at the source.

About Puddle Flanges

Puddle flanges — also called leak control flanges — are the unsung hero of every compliant wet-area installation. Sitting between the waste outlet and the waterproofing membrane, the flange creates a permanent mechanical and chemical bond that prevents water from tracking down the outside of the pipe and into the substrate below. Skip the flange and you skip the warranty; nearly every Australian Standard wet-area defect investigation traces back to an unflanged or poorly bonded outlet.

Our range covers the three sizes that do 95% of real-world work: 50mm for shower wastes and floor gullies, 90mm for balconies and laundry tubs, and 100mm for planter boxes, podiums and commercial drains. Each flange is moulded from UV-stable PVC with a textured top face, giving liquid membranes, sheet membranes and bitumen products something to mechanically key into. The underside is ribbed for adhesive grip and dimensioned to suit standard DWV pipe so the plumber's rough-in doesn't need to change.

Why source them from Waterproofing Supplies Australia? We carry the same brands specified on tier-1 construction sites — products that pass AS 4654 and AS 3740 documentation requirements without arguments from the certifier. We also ship same-day on stocked sizes, which matters when a flange has been forgotten on site and the screeder is booked for tomorrow.

Pair your flanges with a compatible primer (epoxy for non-porous PVC), bond breaker tape at the wall/floor junction, and reinforcement fabric over the flange top before the second membrane coat. Installed correctly, a puddle flange will outlive the building. Installed without one, every shower is a future insurance claim.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a puddle flange for a domestic shower?

Yes. AS 3740 requires a sealed connection between the waterproof membrane and any penetration in the wet area. A puddle flange is the standard way to achieve compliance.

What size puddle flange for a balcony?

90mm is the most common size for residential balconies; 100mm is used for larger podiums and commercial decks with higher rainfall loads.
